MINING ENGINEERING DRAINTUBE

DRAINTUBE - Dry stacks drainage

Use

To increase the capacity of dry stacks, since the footprint is generally limited, the height of the pile is often enhanced. The main problem with high stacks, often made of heterogeneous and low permeability material, is the accumulation of perched groundwater within the structure. This can lead to stability concerns.

Safety can be highly improved with the use of DRAINTUBE® between the risers and at the base, to ensure the drainage of perched groundwater within the deposit.

Connection to the main collector pipe using the Quick Connect system

The Quick Connect system connects the mini-pipes of the DRAINTUBE® directly to a main collector pipe. This allows for the replacement of the collector trenches when site conditions make their construction difficult. It also permits to better control the outflow.

Benefits

  • High drainage capacity under heavy loads
  • Improved collection system and hydraulic pressure control
  • Reduced risk of dike failure and better use of tailings to build stable slopes
  • Optimisation of existing deposition areas
  • Replacement of collector trenches with a system connecting the mini-pipes to the collector drain : Quick Connect system
  • Easy installation with a single product to unroll
  • Cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution as it replaces granular layers

To maintain good stability of the slopes, it is necessary to provide an efficient drain for the stacks. Multi-linear Drainage Geocomposites  DRAINTUBE® are installed in strips along the slope of the platform, for the dissipation of pore pressure. Lightweight and easy to install, they are not susceptible to creep in compression even under very high loads.
